# Signing in

You sign in to the Firefight dashboard with your Slack account, your Google account or a link sent to your email. Whichever one you use, you reach the same account and the same workspaces.

## Sign in with Slack

Click **Continue with Slack** on the sign-in page and choose your Slack workspace. If Firefight is already installed there, you land on the dashboard. If it isn't, Firefight asks you to name a workspace and then connect your Slack workspace to it. See [Creating a workspace](https://firefight.app/docs/getting-started/creating-a-workspace.md).

Signing in with Slack works for full members of that Slack workspace. A guest of the Slack workspace, or someone from another organization, is told they cannot use Firefight there. An admin can invite them by email instead, and they sign in with an email link or Google. See [Members & access](https://firefight.app/docs/workspace/members-and-access.md).

The first time you sign in with Slack, Slack must have verified the email on your Slack account. If it hasn't, verify it in Slack and sign in again.

## Sign in with Google

Click **Continue with Google** and pick the Google account you want to use. Google always shows its account picker, so you can choose a work account even when another one is signed in.

Google must have verified the account's email. If you don't belong to a workspace yet, Firefight asks you to name one. See [Creating a workspace](https://firefight.app/docs/getting-started/creating-a-workspace.md).

## Sign in with an email link

1. Enter your email on the sign-in page and click **Email me a sign-in link**.
2. Open the email from Firefight and click **Sign in to Firefight**.
3. Firefight opens a page with a **Sign in** button. Click it to finish.

The link works once, for 15 minutes. Using it closes every other link sent to the same address, so an older email in your inbox stops working. The sign-in page says the same thing for every address you enter, whether or not it has an account.

You can ask for five links an hour for one address. Past that, the sign-in page asks you to wait before trying again.

Like Google, an email link takes someone with no workspace yet to [create one](https://firefight.app/docs/getting-started/creating-a-workspace.md).

## Which account you reach

Firefight remembers each Google and Slack account you sign in with and matches it first. The first time you use one, Firefight matches it to your account by its email, and only when Google or Slack has verified that email. Changing the email on your Google or Slack account later never moves you to another Firefight account.

Whenever a new way to sign in is added to your account, Firefight emails you. If you did not add it, remove it from your profile and tell your workspace admin.

## Manage your sign-in methods

Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar and choose **Profile**. **Sign-in methods** lists every way you can sign in, with the email each one uses and when you last used it.

To remove one, click **Remove** next to it and confirm. You always keep at least one, so the button is unavailable on your last method, and hovering it says why. If a removed method uses the same email as your account, signing in with it again adds it back.
