Slack connection
Firefight runs every incident in its own Slack channel, so your workspace is connected to one Slack workspace. Admins see that connection at the top of Settings → Workspace, in the Slack card.
Reinstalling Slack
Section titled “Reinstalling Slack”When a Firefight update needs new Slack permissions, reinstall the app to grant them. Nothing disconnects while you do.
- Open Settings → Workspace.
- In the Slack card, press Reinstall Slack.
- Slack shows what Firefight asks for. Approve it.
You come back to Settings → Workspace, which says Slack was reinstalled. Channels, incidents, members and settings stay as they are, and your workspace keeps its name.
Slack opens on the workspace you are already connected to. If you pick a different one on Slack’s screen, Firefight changes nothing and asks you to choose the connected workspace and try again. If you cancel on Slack’s screen, you come back to the same page and nothing changes.
Only admins and owners can reinstall, like everything else on the Workspace page.
When Slack is disconnected
Section titled “When Slack is disconnected”If the Slack app is removed or its access is revoked, every page shows Slack is disconnected. Incidents, settings and history stay readable, but nothing posts to Slack until the app is back. An admin can press Reconnect Slack on that banner, or Reinstall Slack in the Slack card. Both install the app again into the same Slack workspace. Members see a note asking them to get an admin to reconnect it.
Before Slack is connected
Section titled “Before Slack is connected”A workspace you started without Slack shows Connect Slack in the Slack card and in a banner on every page. Declaring an incident waits until Slack is connected, and everything else works in the meantime.
